"Female skaters are sort of where skateboarding was in the '80s or early '90s: rare and being looked at as different." - Sarah Meurle
"Anything boys can do, girls can do better": in 2017, it seems as though time has borne out that schoolyard taunt. Though women still have a hard time getting taken seriously in male-dominated fields, we've come a long way in recent years, and it's hard to imagine little girls being told that there's anything they can't do.
But believe it or not, there are still some fields in which female participation is still a rarity—like skateboarding, for example. (Think about it: how many female skateboarders can you name off the top of your head?) Girl on board spotlights the girls who are trying to change all that. In this short doc video, Claudia Stanger describes her love story with skateboarding, breaks down the myth of "girl sports" versus "guy sports", and shares her personal recipe for girl power.
